The National Museum of the Royal Navy is launching a crowd sourcing appeal to help fund the restoration of Frank Salisbury’s painting of the young gun-layer on HMS Chester. Most of the pictures of Jack show, in fact, his brother Ernst who posed for the well-known portrait of Boy First Class Cornwell V.C., his folded arms showing his steel and determination.

My apologies for the late post. The news was announced November 2nd.
