Gert Normann Andersen showed Stefan Huck from the German Marine Museum and myself around the new Memorial Park which is in final stages of preparation for the opening on June 1st. I will be there with Reinhard Scheer’s adopted great grandson, Reinhard Scheer-Hennings. Stefan and I were passing through quickly to loan Gert a beautiful model of Hipper’s flagship, SMS Lützow. We returned with the model of HMS Iron Duke and some paintings which will go now to the NMRN in Portsmouth. It’s been a pleasure to have see Iron Duke so beautifully displayed in Gert’s museum but sad we could not stay longer.

Thank you for creating the Memorial Park. My great uncle Gilbert Leopold Hill served on HMS Indefatigable and lies beneath the waves with his shipmates never to be forgotten. I aim to visit one day and pay my respects to those brave men.

My great uncle sadly lost his life with his shipmates on HMS Indefatigable. Its really wonderful to have a memorial park for all those who lost their lives. My great uncle was Christopher Priestman age 18 yrs. I plan to visit in May 24
